1. Introduction

This Cookie and Similar Technologies Policy ("Policy") explains how the Amavit Abacus Platform, including its website, mobile applications, web application, and related services ("Platform"), uses cookies and similar technologies.

This Policy also explains how Users can manage their cookie preferences.

This Policy applies to the Platform's website and related online services.

2. What Are Cookies and Similar Technologies?

Cookies are small text files stored on a User's device when visiting a website.

The Platform may also use similar technologies, including:

  • Local Storage;
  • Tracking Pixels;
  • Software Development Kits (SDKs) used in mobile applications;
  • other technologies that perform functions similar to cookies for storing information or recognizing devices.

These technologies help us:

  • provide and maintain the Platform;
  • authenticate Users and protect security;
  • remember User preferences;
  • analyze Platform usage;
  • improve performance and functionality;
  • personalize the User experience where permitted by law.

3. Categories of Cookies We Use

3.1 Strictly Necessary Cookies

These cookies are essential for the operation of the Platform.

They are used for:

  • User authentication;
  • security;
  • fraud prevention;
  • session management;
  • maintaining core Platform functionality.

Because these cookies are necessary for the operation of the Platform, they do not require User consent where permitted by applicable law.

3.2 Functional Cookies

Functional cookies allow the Platform to:

  • remember User preferences;
  • save language and interface settings;
  • improve usability and convenience.

3.3 Analytics Cookies

Analytics technologies help us understand how the Platform is used and how it can be improved.

They may collect information such as:

  • usage statistics;
  • technical events;
  • performance data;
  • application errors.

The Company currently uses the following services:

  • Google Analytics 4, to measure visits to the Platform's public website (amavit.com);
  • Sentry, for error monitoring and technical diagnostics.

Additional analytics providers may be introduced in the future as the Platform evolves.

Analytics information is processed in an aggregated or technical form and is not intended to directly identify individual Users.

Google Analytics

Google Analytics is provided by Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland ("Google").

Google Analytics is used only on the Platform's public website. It is not used in the mobile applications, in the web application (app.amavit.com), in Child Accounts, or on invitation link pages.

Google Analytics is loaded only after the User accepts analytics cookies in the cookie banner. Until then, no Google Analytics code runs and no Google Analytics cookies are set.

Google Analytics collects information such as:

  • pages visited and the page from which the User arrived;
  • time spent on the website and interactions with it (such as scrolls, clicks on outbound links, and file downloads);
  • approximate location (country and city), derived from the IP address;
  • browser type, operating system, device type, and screen resolution.

Google Analytics 4 does not log or store IP addresses. The IP address is used only to derive an approximate location and is then discarded.

The Company does not send names, email addresses, Account identifiers, or other information that directly identifies Users to Google Analytics, does not enable Google Signals or advertising features, and does not use Google Analytics data to personalize advertising.

Google Analytics sets the following cookies:

  • _ga — distinguishes unique visitors; stored for 2 years;
  • _ga_<ID> — maintains the state of a visit (session); stored for 2 years.

Event-level data in Google Analytics is retained for no longer than 14 months, after which it is deleted automatically.

3.4 Advertising and Informational Technologies

The Platform may use technologies to display informational content, recommendations, notifications, and promotional materials intended exclusively for Parents and Teachers.

The Company does not use advertising cookies or similar technologies to aggressively profile children.

Children may only be shown internal Platform activities, including:

  • certificates;
  • competitions;
  • challenges;
  • educational activities;
  • motivational content;
  • new Platform features;
  • other internal Platform notifications.

These materials are educational, informational, or motivational in nature and do not constitute third-party personalized advertising.

4. Legal Basis for Using Cookies

The Company uses cookies on the following legal bases:

  • User consent, where required for functional, analytics, and advertising cookies;
  • the Company's legitimate interests for strictly necessary cookies required to operate and secure the Platform,

in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and other applicable laws.

Users may refuse optional cookies without affecting access to the essential functionality of the website, unless a particular feature requires such cookies to operate.

5. Cookie Consent

When visiting the Platform's website for the first time, Users are provided with options to:

  • accept all cookies; or
  • reject non-essential cookies.

Users may withdraw or modify their consent at any time through:

  • the "Cookie Settings" link in the website footer; or
  • their browser settings.

When a User withdraws consent, analytics cookies are deleted and Google Analytics stops collecting data immediately, without the need to reload the page.

Users may also prevent Google Analytics from collecting their data on any website by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

The Company may retain records of Users' cookie consent where necessary to demonstrate compliance with applicable legal requirements.

6. Cookie Retention

Cookies may be stored:

  • only for the duration of a browsing session (session cookies); or
  • for a defined period (persistent cookies).

The retention period for each cookie depends on its purpose and will not exceed the period reasonably necessary to fulfill that purpose.

7. Third-Party Services

The Platform may use trusted third-party services that place cookies or similar technologies, including:

  • analytics services;
  • error monitoring services;
  • cloud infrastructure providers;
  • content delivery network (CDN) services;
  • advertising and communication platforms.

Although the Company carefully selects its service providers, it does not control the cookie practices of independent third parties.

8. Managing Cookies

Users may manage cookies through their browser settings by:

  • deleting cookies;
  • restricting their use;
  • blocking specific categories of cookies.

Blocking certain cookies may result in some features of the Platform becoming unavailable or functioning improperly.

8.1 Mobile Applications

Mobile applications may use SDKs and similar technologies that perform functions comparable to cookies.

9. International Data Transfers

Information collected through cookies and similar technologies may be processed or stored outside the User's country of residence.

Where international transfers occur, the Company implements appropriate safeguards required under applicable data protection laws, including contractual mechanisms where necessary to ensure an adequate level of protection.

Data collected by Google Analytics may be transferred to Google LLC in the United States. Google LLC is certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework, and transfers are additionally covered by the Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the European Commission.

10. Do Not Track

Some web browsers offer a "Do Not Track" ("DNT") setting.

At this time, the Platform does not respond to DNT signals because there is currently no universally accepted industry standard governing their interpretation.

11. Changes to this Policy

The Company may update this Policy from time to time.

The most current version will always be published on the Platform's website, together with its updated Effective Date.

Continued use of the Platform after the updated Policy becomes effective constitutes acknowledgment of the revised Policy, where permitted by applicable law.
